I am always excited when I have the occasion to create the bouquets and floral arrangements for a wedding. Many would say I am just a wedding services provider. Actually, I am much more than that. Many times I become close to the bride and the groom and I feel that, through every floral arrangement I create for their wedding, I take part, as a discreet witness, to this wonderful day in the life of each couple. And everyone already knows I love what I do.
For Simina’s and Cristi’s wedding, I only used pink peonies, hydrangeas and lavender – Simina’s favorite flowers. I always tell brides to use their favorite flowers. And yes, of course the bride wanted a sublime Sarah Bernhard peonies and lavender bouquet. And, of course, the bridal bouquet turned out exactly like she always dreamed it would be. There’s no greater gratification for a florist than to hear these words in a moment when the bride hugs him, trying hard not to cry and ruin her make-up.
Simina and Cristi’s wedding was an elegant one, hosted by the glorious Chika Castle. We’ve decorated the space with brocade tablecloths, Chiavari chairs and table arrangements made of peonies, hydrangeas and lavender surrounding the stunning crystal chandeliers. You can only imagine everything that happened from these pictures, but the smell of peonies and lavender floating together in the entire ballroom was simply breathtaking. And, unfortunately, I cannot share it here. Magnifique!

In order to organize the perfect wedding, it’s essential for all the ingredients of the event to be perfect, too. As Cristina and Andrei decided to get married at the Cantacuzino Castle in Busteni, we knew they already had the perfect background for a fairytale wedding, exactly as Cristina wanted it. Actually, who doesn’t dream about a wedding like this? I was very happy that they counted on Purple Flower team to make their dream come true!
The civil ceremony took place in open air, in front of the castle, so we decorated the space with a white carpet, white Chiavari chairs and the pavilion for the ceremony was draped in ivory and decorated with a flower chandelier. The rain made us a bit nervous for a while, but luckily we had prepared transparent umbrellas for all the guests. Fortunately, the rain stopped five minutes before the beginning of the ceremony, just in time for the cocktails that were served on the terrace decorated with white draping and flowers, where the guests enjoyed the music of a strings quartet.
After the ceremony, the guests were invited in the castle, where the wedding party took place. The tables were decorated with white and green beautiful floral arrangements. I love this simple yet elegant mix. I imagined a floral garland to decorate the 1m tall silver candelabras and we also created a matching arrangement at its bottom part. It all looked like the flowers just started to grow and cover the candelabrum. The materials used were hydrangea, dahlia, astilbe, green bell, agapanthus, delphinium, eucalypt, ivy and of course plenty of candles.
Cristina wanted strong, distinctive shades of red for her bridal bouquet, so we created it together as a multitude of Vanda orchids – her favorite flowers. In order to combine two different shades of red, such a passionate and bold color, I inserted some gloriosa, and the result was an unforgettable bouquet. Just as the entire wedding proved to be an unforgettable event.

I’ve met darling Adela Popescu through a mutual friend, Ivona Nenu (wedding planner) and I have to confess, I was a bit emotional because. Until that moment, I’ve only seen her on TV.
Her warm and relaxed manner conquered me from the very beginning. I’ve liked her from our first meeting, one that lasted three hours, during which we’ve shared ideas and we’ve talked about all sorts of stuff we could do together. This is how her beautiful wedding at Hadar Chalet came into shape, a dream wedding, as Adela described it on her blog. Adela and Radu Wanted an intimate wedding, with only close friends and relatives around, far away from the paparazzi’s lenses. I didn’t even know much about it, except for the fact that it would be held somewhere outside Bucharest, in a forest, in a barn that was going to be launched especially for this event. The civil ceremony was planned for Friday, while the religious ceremony and the party would happen on a Saturday.
When Adela showed me her wedding dress, I knew her bouquet will have to include a vintage touch and that was exactly what she wanted. I used Red Charm peonies, ivy leaves, blackberries, Vanda Red Magic orchids. But, because we decided together that we wanted to mix the new with the traditional, I also used a not so known flower, Protea Nutan. The bouquet went well with Adela’s beautiful wedding dress. I chose the flowers Adela would wear in her hair following the same idea. She told me she didn’t want anything complicated, just a crown in the style of the bouquet. And that’s what I did! When a bride is writing to tell “Oh my God, thank you, I had the most beautiful bouquet in the entire world”, you can definitely get past all the exhaustion, all the late hours working. These words are the greatest joy for any florist.
For the floral décor, we imagined simple, tasteful and elegant arrangements, inspired by Adela’s personality. Because everything was going to happen in the middle of nature, we created a very natural décor. We had rectangular tables, brown Chiavari chairs and brown tablecloths, and on the entire lengths of the tables we’ve put long wooden boards decorated with vases in different sizes, and in them, green moss, ivy leaves and white flowers (astilbe, agapanthus, roses, anthirinum, hydrangea and germini). We chose to bring the nature inside through the suspended candelabras, made out of ivy and eucalyptus. We then decorated the tables with candles and we dressed the wooden pillars of the barn in all sorts of greeneries and ivy – this would become the leitmotiv of the entire wedding.
Adela’s and Radu’s wedding felt like a fairytale… or like a dream! And I am so happy I had the chance to contribute to it!

You have the location, photographer, the video session and the band all settled. You’ve already bought the rings and you are going to try on your wedding dress next week. So you find yourself searching on Google and Pinterest for a „bride bouquet” and, from the hundreds of results, you hardly manage to limit yourself at 5 types that you actually like. Not only that they are different in shape, but you are wondering: which one is the best for me and for my wedding dress? Trust me, if you’ve managed to get only five bouquets, you are lucky!
One can always say that, when it comes to the bridal bouquet, brides can be seen as types:
The first thing I’m telling to future brides, when they are asking me about their bouquet, is that they need to think about the jewels they would wear at a black tie event. It’s that simple! If you like the neutral, simple, minimal jewels, then it’s very possible that your bridal bouquet should follow the same lines. If you can’t wait for such an event to wear your statement jewelry, that are enhancing your individuality, your bridal bouquet should work in the same way. A big, bright and daring bouquet will fit your style!
Of course, there are some rules you should follow and that could guide you when choosing you bouquet, but in the end the rules could help you… or not.
First, think about its shape. Don’t forget, before choosing one, that you should know the shape of the dress you are going to wear. A shower bouquet might be trouble if you are wearing a princess dress, and in this case I would advise you to wear a hand-tied or over-arm bouquet. Keep in mind the fact that you can always pick a not-compact bouquet, one that has some rebel flowers in it, that can really add some movement, without adding extra weight to your outfit. In case you’re wearing an A-line or empire dress, then an oversized bouquet or a shower type will be easier to integrate in the outfit.

When you’re considering the color of your bouquet, things are getting a bit easier. My advice is to always choose your favorite color! Don’t think about superstitions, just choose what you like! If you can’t decide on the specific shade, return to the jewelry comparison – it always works.
When it comes to the composition, follow your instincts and preferences. And, yes, pick your favorite flower. If you like all flowers and cannot decide on a particular one, tell that to your florist, he should know how to create something that will please you. And, a very important detail: don’t forget to mention all those flowers you don’t like.

One last piece of advice – take into account your own height when you are thinking about the bouquet. If you’re tiny, the bouquet should be small. In the end, you should be wearing it and you shouldn’t need help to carry it around. And if you’re tall, go all the way – even an oversized bouquet will look good on you! Besides this, think about who you are, about your personality and what defines you.

In conclusion, the most important thing to know is that rules are made to be broken and that, in the end, you should always just choose what you like!
I’m wishing you the wedding of your dreams!
With love and passion,
Dhaniel
